The ModFy application must be installed on a Windows computer. See the minimum requirements.
It consists of three integrated parts:
- GUI (Graphical Interface): Where you log in, register, download mods, change settings, and perform other operations.
- Worker: A service that runs continuously on Windows, similar to Steam, managing security. It performs crucial functions:
- Integrates with Steam to detect when a compatible game is launched, performs security checks, and attaches the DLL to the game.
- Receives updates and notifications for new mods.
- Performs mod processing, updates, and management.
- Manages mod encryption keys.
- DLL: Loaded by the Worker when the game is launched. It validates all game and mod files. Only after this validation is it possible to obtain the encryption key required to unlock the mod. If validation fails, the mod will be marked as incompatible in the game. For support, see our Support section.
Encrypted File System
Mods in ModFy are not ordinary files and cannot be extracted or used outside the platform. Even mod creators do not have direct access to the files, as they are stored in an encrypted format and require the ModFy environment to be used.
